-
Seal concrete slab against moisture
-
Glue foam blocks to bottom layer of ply
-
Run top layer of ply perpendicular to bottom layer
-
Tape or patch screw heads and sand seams
DIRECTIONS
Water seal concrete subfloor. Stagger the seams so they do not match up, precut plywood so bottom
layer of plywood runs across width of room and top layer (which must be finished one side) runs down
length of room (see Illustration 2). (Tongue and groove plywood can be used but is not necessary). Glue
foam blocks to bottom layer of plywood (see Illustrations 2, 3 & 4).Using 1" counter-sinking wood deck
screws, join the two layers of plywood every 6" in all directions installing 128 screws per 4' x 8' sheet (see
Illustration 1). Fill or tape all screw holes and seams. Leave 1/2" gap at all walls. Deck with vinyl flooring,
carpeting, linoleum, or wood.
Note: If you plan to remove and recycle your subflooring at a future date, do not fill screw holes. Tape
over them for easy removal later.
