SPRINGSTEP II

Resilient floating wood subfloors that come 2-3/4" (69.85 mm) off the slab. Offers more absorbency and less resiliency than Springstep I.Will not reduce sound levels in the room. Ideal for all movement activities including all dance styles and martial arts. Springstep II consists of 2 layers of 1/2" (12.70 mm) plywood resting on two-inch resilient foam cubed blocks -100 blocks per 4' x 8' (1.23 m x 2.44 m) plywood sheet.

DIRECTIONS

Water seal concrete subfloor. Staggering the seams so they do not match up, precut plywood so bottom layer of plywood runs across width of room and top layer (which must be finished one side) runs down length of room (see Illustration 2). (Tongue and groove plywood can be used but is not necessary). Glue foam blocks to bottom layer of plywood (see Illustrations 2, 3 & 4).Using 1" counter-sinking wood deck screws, join the two layers of plywood every 6" in all directions installing 128 screws per 4' x 8' sheet (see Illustration 1). Fill or tape all screw holes and seams. Leave 1/2" gap at all walls. Deck with vinyl flooring, carpeting, linoleum, or wood.


ORDER OF CONSTRUCTION

• Seal concrete slab against moisture
• Glue foam blocks to bottom layer of ply
• Run top layer of ply perpendicular to bottom layer
• Tape or patch screw heads and sand seams

SPECIFICATIONS
SPRINGSTEP II:

Two layers of 1/2" (12.70 mm) underlayment grade solid core no void plywood, one layer finished one side. Stagestep’s 2" (50.80 mm) high density cubed foam blocks, contact cement (or
liquid nails), 1" (25.40 mm) continuous thread wood deck screws with counter sinking heads and tape or seam filler (floor patch) to realize a smooth surface. Do not usedrywall screws or nails.

 

Note: If you plan to remove and recycle your subflooring at a future date, do not fill screw holes.Tape over them for easy removal later.
